As part of the artistic process of writing this album I would compose stream of consciousness thoughts and observations in my diary. I made sure every day as part of my arts residency that I would visit somewhere along the river, creek or sea around the Gold Coast.

This song was created from a number of these writings and explored the love I have for this city as well as the fears and uncertainty I was feeling as I pondered the future.

It is soft and it is caressing

Well today I feel a soft breeze (running through my blood)
And I see Melaleuca leaves (Rain from above)
Suddenly a thought occurs to me
That there’s too many thoughts here to be believed

I tell myself to lose the fear
Come winters day It will disappear
Now spring is early and the fear’s still here
Every damn season is early and I’m still here

Well I don’t want the river to catch me crying
But I’m also done with all of the lying
Do I wade in the river?
Do I wade in the sea?
And let all the salt water wash them fears away

Or do I sit here thinking
Until the end
Of the day?
