One day by the Nerang River I saw a swan wandering around a white house that backed onto the river. It was a hot day and the river was a cool reprieve to the radiating heat.

The swan walked down the stairs to the water’s edge where a silver tinnie (small outboard motor boat) bobbed up and down. A song was born.

She walks down the stairs to where a silver tinnie

Sits by the bobbing boat and lets her right root dangle (she lets her right foot dangle)
Her toes and cool water meet
Her left foot follows
And now our swan is ankle deep

She turns to glance at the house in the shimmering heat (aaahhh)
And the tall buildings that sprout from the sand like trees of glass (aaahhh)
And she feels the water and the coolness of the deep x2 (aaahhh)
Ohhh then she feels the water pulling at her feet
She slides in gently
