This song muses on the idea that the river alone will “tide you to the berth” and “invite you to drink yourself into the earth”.

House of Blazes was the first drinking establishment operating on the Gold Coast after Europeans started holidaying by this special spot by the Coral Sea. It was supposedly a Queenslander style house right at the end of Cavil Ave on the Nerang River. One of the most iconic places on the Gold Coast to this day.

Although the title of the song does not appear in the lyrics, it does conjure an image of a place to moor your boat, to “put a little sugar in your rum” and to let the river do the rest.
