Nobody’s Home (There’s Always a Crow) is a song born from another song, a reimagining and creative tip of the hat from one artist to another.

Brisbane Banjo composer Andrew Tuttle asked Gold Coast musician/producer, Cold Ghost to re-work one of his instrumental tracks from the 2022 album, “Fleeting Adventure.”

The last track on the album “There’s Always a Crow” stood out as a song that had the potential framework for a Cold Ghost song to sit inside, yet beyond.

Andrew’s banjo provides the sonic template for Cold Ghost’s fingerpicking, detuned nylon stringed guitar to create a new chordal direction and the ambient bird songs add to the tapestry of sound and act as an instrument themselves.

The lyrics explore a kind of grief that can manifest for a loved one, long before they have left the world. “Nobody’s Home” draws on personal experience and the difficulty of reaching someone who doesn't want to be reached.

Brisbane jazz guitarist, Dan Booth played some of the electric guitars in addition to Andrew Tuttle’s own ethereal guitars.

Apart from the stems from Andrew’s original tracks, Cold Ghost did all the production including mixing and mastering, including warping and reversing some of the banjo parts.
